Courses

The courses conducted at Mymensingh Medical College are of Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

Undergraduate Course:

MBBS
The course has been conducted under the 1988 curriculum up to the 39^th batch (year of admission :2002) Currently a new curriculum named Curriculum for Undergraduate Medical Education 2002 has been promulgated by BMDC and approved by the government.

This curriculum has been effective from the 40^th batch of MBBS students (year of admission :2003) and will be continued from subsequent batches.

Duration of the course is 5 (five) years. According to the new curriculum the summary of the course is as follows:

Phase-I

Duration: One and a half year

Examining Subject:

1. Anatomy

2. Physiology

3. Biochemistry

University Examination: First Professional Examination at the end of the period.

Phase-II

Duration: Two years

Examining Subject:

1. Pathology

2. Pharmacology & Therapeutics

3. Community Medicine

4. Microbiology

5. Forensic medicine & Toxicology

University Examination  : Second Professional Examination at the end of the period.

Phase-III

Duration: One and a half year

Examining Subject:

1.  Medicine

2. Surgery

3. Gynaecology and Obstetrics

University Examination: Final Professional Examination at the end of the period.

Internship

Internship is an integral part of medical teaching as recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. After being qualified through the final MBBS Examination, doctors are provided with a provisional registration of BMDC. After satisfactory compilation of one-year internship program and logbook scheme have been started; interns will be placed in Medicine and Allied branches for 19 weeks, Surgery and allied branches for 19 weeks and Obs & Gynae for 14 weeks.
